Practice Overview

As a surgeon, I enjoy caring for patients, and am qualified to treat many kinds of orthopedic injuries and conditions. I chose orthopedics as a career because in treating various problems with muscles, ligaments and joints, I can help people return to the work, sports and hobbies they love. I completed a subspecialty training in Sports Medicine which included advanced training in minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery and care of athletes of all levels. My goal is to work jointly with my patients to help them reach their highest level of function so they can return to living life to the fullest.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and three daughters and participating in multiple sporting activities, especially swimming, tennis and sailing.

I have been meaning to write this for three years, and with the anniversary of my injury it finally prompted me to do so! Three years ago to the day, I felt a “pop” in my knee when squatting to pick up a tennis ball. Such a freak accident! Boy, did I get lucky when I landed with Dr. Hamilton. What we thought was a meniscus tear turned out to be a partial tear of my ACL, requiring surgery. Receiving that news was beyond shocking, however, Dr. Hamilton was so consultative and informative which helped calm my nerves. The way that my ACL had torn gave us options, which was great to hear! Instead of needing a complete reconstruction of my ACL, she was able to try a newer procedure repairing the existing ACL. Not only would this arthroscopic surgery be minimally invasive, leaving virtually nothing for scars, but it would also minimize my recovery period down to only 5 months instead of 9 months! Dr. Hamilton’s knowledge of this type of surgery immediately gained my trust and it was a complete success! I am so happy to report that 3 years later, my knee gives me ZERO problems. I can workout and run like I did before my injury; I can wear heels without issues. What I thought was going to be a devastating, life-altering event, turned out to be just a blip in the story of my life. I am confident that, paired with my diligent physical therapy, Dr. Hamilton was absolutely the reason for this success story and I am so thankful for her expertise. I would absolutely recommend anyone to her in a heartbeat, as she helped ensure that my injury would not impact my lifestyle for the rest of my life.

Dr. Hamilton performed a rotator cuff and biceps tendon repair on my right shoulder two years ago and on my left shoulder several weeks ago. I am so impressed with her skill as a surgeon. I am so happy my family doctor referred me to her, saying, “If I needed knee or shoulder surgery, Dr. Hamilton is the surgeon I would go to.” Good advice. She is down to earth and approachable. Love her personality as much as I love her ability to fix my shoulders back to 100%!

Dr. Hamilton did an outstanding job repairing my bicep tendon and decompressing the nerves. Although I haven’t regained full strength yet, my arm feels great and I think it’s just a matter of time. As happy as I am with the results, I also want to say how wonderful Dr. Hamilton is. Prior to surgery, she asked about and listened to my concerns, my lifestyle and my expectations for a realistic outcome before we decided to go ahead with surgery. Truly, I couldn’t have asked for a better outcome!

I am a retired physician and have been having gradually worsening left shoulder pain and restrictions for over 15 years. I had 38 years in the military and noted I could not fully bring my left palm back at the parade rest position. This gradually worsened and pain started. I saw Dr. Hamilton at age 65 and she was fantastic. She had the personality of a good family doc, something that is difficult to teach in young doctors (I taught in a family practice residency for 18 years) and something that is rare in sub specialists. She was magnificent. I recently had my shoulder replaced and could not feel better. I was off of pain meds on the 3rd day post-op and my motion is nearly back to normal now at 3 months post. Pain is completely gone. I could not be more happy with Dr. Hamilton’s clinical skills and her personal skills. I felt she truly cared about my health even after I left her exam room.

I can’t say enough great things about Dr. Hamilton. Highly skilled, very personable. Never in a rush and gave me all the time I needed. I felt like she genuinely cared about me as a person and not just a patient. She explained everything in detail and customized the surgery for unique physical challenges. I couldn’t be happier! My physical therapy team is great as well.

I met Dr.Hamilton on the day of my wife’s first knee replacement at Methodist Hospital. I was so impressed with her skill and personality that when I was desperately in need of help I consulted her. At the time I had a right arm that I could no longer raise and a hard limp from severe knee pain. She successfully repaired my knee 1/15/2016 and once I finished physical therapy I scheduled my shoulder repair. She successfully repaired the full tear as well as other issues 6/3/2016. The other issues dated back to an injury in 1987 which I had been living with chronic pain. That pain issue is gone. Abbie, you saved my life! I am forever grateful for your help!

I have been blessed because I was able to get Dr. Hamilton as my surgeon. I had severe pain in both shoulders which was due to rotator cuff tears. On 1-29-16, I had surgery on my right shoulder which had a 100% tear. Within a few months I was on the quick mend. Now, after 6 months, that shoulder is 100% healed. On 6-19-16, I had the same surgery on my left rotator cuff which had a 90% tear. Now, after 2 1/2 months, I am 90-95% healed. I cannot begin to express my gratitude to Dr. Hamilton. She has made my life so much better.
