Dr. Johnson turned a very frightening event for me into a challenge that gave me a normal life back with a knee replacement. He walked me through everything, including a setback. I am now back on my feet with a great looking new knee and feel great. And thank you Karen, you’re amazing.

My comeback story is a bit different. It is about how many times I have “comeback” to TCO for my orthopedic care. I am a 75 year old woman with rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis. I first met Dr. Johnson in 1999 when he performed a perfect hip replacement (it is still there). But my story really begins on October 29th, 2001 when I tripped on an expansion joint of a jetway in Detroit, as we were changing planes to come from Florida to Minneapolis. I fractured my right femur right in the jetway. I was taken to the U of Michigan hospital where they surgically placed a pin and 2 screws. Two days later, I flew back to MN. Six months later, the pin broke, and Dr. Johnson made several attempts at repairing things and eventually did another hip replacement. Since then, Dr. Johnson has cared for me when I had a spontaneous fracture of my right tibia plateau and emergency surgery was needed. I got a new knee and a new metal tibia plateau. My husband and I were so grateful for the skill of Dr. Johnson. Now on May 30th, 2019, he will be doing a total knee replacement on my left knee. When it came time to decide on this, we had no hesitation to call upon Dr. Johnson.

One year ago (Feb 2018), I had a right total knee replacement. I chose Dr. Jay Johnson for many reasons, but the deciding factor was his pleasant attitude and his willingness to explain every detail of the surgery. Well I am 3 weeks away from one year (Feb 2019) post total knee replacement on my left leg. Dr. Johnson and his team (Karen) again were “Rock Stars”. He is an outstanding surgeon and will not disappoint. Abbott hospital staff also helped to make my surgeries a success!!!!

I had knee revision surgery from Dr. Johnson. He did a fantastic job. I was so pleased with my recovery and how much better I felt compared to the first time around. My care was excellent. He explained everything about the knee surgery, meds to take, PT and what to expect. I would give him a 10 star rating plus he actually comes in your room to sit down and talk to you before and after the surgery. Dr. Johnson and his assistant Karen are the best. Thank you so much!!!

I have been going to Dr. Johnson for several years and trust him with his decisions and his expertise on my surgeries. He is always understanding of my aches and pains and willing to try what is needed to help me through my issues. I would recommend him to anyone who is looking for a good orthopedic physician.
